Helga - a cottager´s wife
Helga began working as a maid in 1895 and eventually married a crofter. Helga became a cottager´s wife and shared her fate with many other women. During the great hardships she managed to raise eight children. For them, there would be food and clothing. Then it belonged also to the woman's lot to take care of home and animals, pick berries and more. She was also responsible for firewood and water in the home. In the evening she spun wool into yarn, which became clothes for the children. Like other cottagers´wives she had to do day's work, two days a week of the big farmer. Grandma Helga was 57 years old.
